Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: ESPN 680 Mississippi State Victory Podcast

Lachlan McLean and I discuss a shaky road win in Starkville

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Mississippi State Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

There were only a few bright spots in the Kentucky Wildcats 88-81 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville, the rest of the game was lackluster.

De’Aaron Fox provided the late game heroics while Wenyen Gabriel was stellar for a second game in a row with 13 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and a perfect shooting night from the floor. Derek Willis kept the ‘Cats afloat in the first half scoring 13 points. The rest was nothing to write home about.

Podcast topics:

  • Give it up to Wenyen and Willis as the four spot was the best position on the floor
  • De’Aaron Fox continues to prove why he is this team’s MVP
  • Malik Monk and Isaiah Briscoe take the night off
  • I go off on a rant about SEC basketball, SEC basketball crowds, and SEC officiating
  • While Bam Adebayo battled foul trouble, Isaac Humphries, Sacha Killeya-Jones, and Tai Wynyard didn’t provide much support

  • The diagram of blowing an 18 point lead

We will be live in the studio for you on ESPN 680 after the game, which looks to be a good one. The Gamecocks are ranked atop the KenPom ratings in regards to defense while the Wildcats are second in offense. Something has to give.
