Pretty or ugly, a win is a win.
Ugly has been the choice as of late for Kentucky, who had to grind out another hard-fought SEC affair, this one being in Starkville against an up-and-coming Mississippi State quad.
The Wildcats led by as many as 18 points in the second half, but the Bulldogs made fierce rally late to make this a game down to the wire.
But just as they’ve done, Kentucky’s guards made clutch play after clutch play to notch an 88-81 win. This time, it was De’Aaron Fox leading the way with 21 points, five assists and five rebounds.
Derek Willis chipped in 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and five boards. Wenyen Gabriel added 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting and eight boards.
