This Friday marks the beginning of the fall recruiting period, which means John Calipari and the University of Kentucky coaching staff will be busy making recruiting pitches to prospective members of the 2017 class.
One of those players will be 6-foot-8 forward P.J. Washington, the #14 overall recruit according to Scout. Washington, who plays at Findlay Prep in Nevada, has been on Kentucky’s radar for quite some time now.
Adam Zagoria, of zagsblog.com, reports that Washington will host Calipari later this week.
Zagoria previously reported that Washington has set four official visits , with Kentucky being the first to host him September 16-18. With two visits in such a short amount of time, it is clear to see that Kentucky has placed a high priority on Washington and there is a mutual interest there.
Washington made a name for himself this summer playing with Team Penny on the Nike Circuit and the U18 Team USA squad that won a gold medal. On the EYBL Circuit, Washington averaged about 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.
Kentucky seems to be the leader for Washington early on, but Texas and UNLV are also considered as popular choices, as well as UNC being in the chase. UNLV has been the popular pick lately, with the last four Crystal Ball predictions headed toward the Runnin’ Rebels.
