Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, and welcome to the Tuesday Quickies.
The big news of the morning is that the Lexington Center, the folks that own Rupp Arena, will not be selling the naming rights to Rupp. They are considering selling naming rights for the entire Lexington Center complex, however.
I am cautiously optimistic and pleased that we won’t have to deal with something like "Lexmark Rupp Arena" or "Ashland Oil Rupp Arena." Of course, minds can change when the kind of money we are talking about is involved. Stay tuned (Hat tip: Kentucky Sports Radio.)
Tweet of the Morning
Who wonned that debate last night? Falcerns?

For some reason, this struck me as hilarious.
Your Quickies:
Kentucky football
-
2017 quarterback Danny Clark has committed to Ohio State since 2013, but Mark Stoops and Kentucky seem to be drawing his attention.
-
Mark Stoops had a rather interesting call-in show last night.
-
Mark Story says nobody in Kentucky should have ill will toward Damien Harris. I totally agree. Honestly, his decision to go to Alabama looks like a good one. He’s starting for the #1 team in the nation.
There is zero chance that would be true if he came here.
-
Will Marshall has yet another outstanding analysis of Kentucky’s play up today, this time vs. South Carolina.
-
John Clay has some notes and observations from Mark Stoops’ press conference Monday.
Kentucky basketball
-
Blue chip 2018 point guard Immanuel Quickley will be in Rupp Arena for Big Blue Madness.
-
Coach Cal keeping an eye on 2018 New Albany (IN) shooting guard Romeo Langford.
-
New 247Sports crystal ball has P.J. Washington, one of UK’s top targets for 2017, coming to Lexington.
-
Blue-White game tickets go on sale today. Basketball is coming like a freight train, folks.
Other Kentucky sports
-
Olivia Dailey named SEC Player of the Week for volleyball. UK volleyball is really good this year. After an uneven start, they have ripped off six straight wins, losing only one set out of its last 18.
-
Keeper Stuart Ford named CUSA Player of the Week for men’s soccer.

College football
-
Morgantown, WVA panics as LSU-branded bizjet lands at Morgantown Municipal Airport. When the big dogs of the SEC come sniffing around their coaches, most schools would be right to panic.
-
Les Miles already looking for his next job. No doubt he’ll find it, and soon.
-
Did you see the flop that got a Florida player ejected for a "punch" last week? Here it is, in all it’s glory. The Tennessee player should be suspended for a game for this, and the Florida guy cleared to play. That’s the only just outcome.
College basketball
-
Former UK Associate AD for Media Relations Scott Stricklin has become the Athletics Director at Florida. He’s filling some big shoes as Jeremy Foley’s successor.
Other sports news
-
Devin Booker is comfortable in his role and appears to be a future NBA All-Star.
-
The good things you heard about Arnold Palmer? They were true.
I’m truly going to miss Arnie. He was looking very frail in his latest round of commercials, and I was worried that he might be moving on to the great country club in the sky soon. Sadly, that intuition proved correct.
Palmer was a great man The best story I read on his passing was in Golf Digest. Consider:
Still, even as partners, Palmer and Nicklaus clashed. It was as if God said to Nicklaus, "You will have skills like no other," then whispered to Palmer, "but they will love you more."
And:
"Palmer went to bed at night with charisma," Sam Snead said, "and he woke up the next morning with more."
You should really read the whole thing if you haven’t, it is one of the better eulogies I have ever read in the media.
-
LeBron James will not protest during the national anthem. Good.

Quantum computing a step closer to reality. Can SkyNet by far behind?
-
What do scientists mean by "quantum gravity?" Basically, it’s a fudge factor by another name.
