Kentucky Wildcats surging for Tremont Waters, helps with Nick Richards

UK has made a push to become the favorite to land Tremont Waters, which could help them get Nick Richards, who just set his official visit with UK.

Thanks to a recent visit to UK (that apparently went well), the Cats are now the favorite to land 4-star point guard Tremont Waters, according to 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball Predictions.

The last nine picks have gone UK’s way, including one form 247 recruiting director Jerry Meyer. Waters is the No. 37 recruit on 247 Sports and No. 32 recruit on ESPN’s 100.

The upward trend on Waters’ likelihood to attend UK is a bit surprising. John Calipari is already in great position with 5-star guard Trae Young, so Waters wouldn’t be the top guard on the team.

However, depth isn’t ever a bad thing, and Waters would certainly make a significant impact regardless. Even if the trend is surprising, it’s great for Kentucky fans.

Not only could it mean landing Waters, but it could also go a long way in deciding Nick Richards’ commitment. Richards played alongside Waters for the Expressions Elite in the Nike EYBL last season, so there’s a bond between the two.

Richards recently scheduled his first Kentucky visit, which he will take on the weekend of Sept. 30. This comes after Calipari visited The Patrick School, Richards’ high school, recently. Cal had an in-home visit with Richards and his family, according to 247 Sports.

Chris Chavannes, Richards’ high school coach, thinks great things are ahead for Richards, especially if he plays for a program like Kentucky.

“Nick has the potential to be a game-changer,” Chavannes told 247 Sports. “He’s pretty good right now and he’s only been playing for four years. You can only imagine when he gets to a place like Kentucky how much better he’s going to be. He’s nowhere near maximizing his potential.”

Richards is the No. 12 overall player on the ESPN 100, and the No. 2 center on 247 Sports.

247 Sports has Kentucky as the unanimous favorite to land Richards, and if Waters is in as well, the Expressions Elite duo will get a chance to continue their dominance in college.
