Two former Kentucky Wildcats in the NFL are having a bad Tuesday. The first bit of sad news came when it was revealed that Danny Trevathan suffered a broken thumb that will require surgery.
The Chicago Bears linebacker suffered the injury during Monday’s embarrassing home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, Trevathan is sidelined in definitely and his team is sitting at 0-2 with their season already looking lost.
Elsewhere, former UK safety Winston Guy was released by the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday. guy has bounced around the NFL during his five seasons in the NFL. He made the Colts’ roster last year and appeared in 12 games.
After making the final roster again this year, it took just two games before Guy was waived. He’s been a backup most of his career, but someone else will at least give him a tryout soon.
Both former Cats finished their UK careers in 2011, which culminated with a win over Tennessee to end the program’s 26-year losing streak to the Vols with a surprising 10-7 win, which also will keep UT home for the bowl season and in the cellar of the SEC’s East Division.
Good times.
