Good Monday morning BBN, these are your Wildcat Quickies. Stephen Johnson was a revelation in Saturday’s shootout win over New Mexico State, playing better than we’d ever expect a backup quarterback to play. With 310 passing yards and 3 touchdowns to go along with 51 rushing yards, the dual threat quarterback led Kentucky to a win and played his way right into a quarterback controversy.
With the success that the offense had with Johnson under center, the fan base certainly has interest in Mark Stoops making Johnson the starter. While that shouldn’t happen immediately, Johnson certainly deserves some first team work this week and, if that goes well, a good deal of playing time in the South Carolina game.
