The Kentucky Wildcats want to add two points guards in 2017, so it only makes sense that Tremont Waters is still interested in UK.
With Trae Young being the Cats’ top target here, adding a quality second point guard will not be easy for John Calipari. Any point guard worth his weight wants to be ‘the guy’ where he goes, but Calipari has made UK a program where two points guards can thrive together.
That’s why it should not be surprising to see Waters will visit UK this weekend, according to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv. This will be an official visit, which will also be with fellow 2017 recruit P.J. Washington, who UK is also in great position with.
Waters, a 5-11, 190-pound point guard out of South Kent School in Connecticut, is ranked as the 10th-best point guard and 37th best 2017 prospect by 247 Sports Composite. He holds an offer from Duke, though the Blue Devils has cooled in their pursuit. Indiana, UConn and Kansas have also offered.
The Hoosiers are currently the 247 Crystal Ball favorite, but trust me when I say UK will be right there at the top if they make him more of a priority in 2017.
As for Washington, the 6-7, 225-pound forward out of Findlay Prep in Nevada, actually hails from Texas and is strongly considering the Longhorns in his recruitment. Arizona and UNLV are also in the mix, but UK is pushing hard for him, so I’m not betting against Calipari in this recruitment.
