Good news regarding Kentucky's recruitment of Huntsville, Alabama wing prospect John Petty has arrived at last. The product of J.O. Johnson high school recently took his official visit with Avery Johnson and Alabama.
The next stop for Petty, according to his discussion with Daniel Boyette of AL.com, is right on to Lexington, Kentucky.
Petty has already taken an unofficial visit during Big Blue Madness last season, and now is looking like he will be taking his first official visit to UK sometime in the near future. Nobody should he surprised if Petty winds up visiting Big Blue Madness again this year.
Petty averaged 19.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.8 steals per game as a junior. He lead J.O. Johnson to a second straight Alabama 5A state title in the program's final year, also capturing the title of Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year. Petty will be playing his senior season at the newly-opened Mae Jemison High School in Huntsville.
Kentucky and Alabama are the two leading candidates to land Petty for the 2017 season. Kansas, UCONN, and Florida State are also included in Petty's current top-five list. 24/7 Sports crystal ball predictions gives Kentucky a 75%-25% advantage over Alabama. However, the Crimson Tide are looking more and more competitive in this chase.
