As expected, the Kentucky Wildcats will not have Regie Meant this year.
A UK spokesman confirmed Friday that Meant is no longer enrolled at UK and is officially off the football roster. Meant was on an indefinite leave of absence due to personal reasons, which have been kept private and hopefully will continue to.
Still, this is a big loss for the Cats entering the 2016 season. The junior was projected to be UK's starting defensive tackle with sophomore Adrian Middleton and true freshman Kordell Looney behind him.
Last year, Meant became a key member in the defensive line rotation as a redshirt sophomore, playing in 10 games with four starts. He totaled 31 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and one sack, which came vs Florida. He was going to play early and often this year, so losing him means a lot of snaps are up for grabs.
