Kentucky Wildcats Football: 'Cats 6.5 Point Favorites Over Southern Miss

The 7.5 line moves down to 6.5

College football is less than two weeks away and Las Vegas has updated the betting lines for kickoff week.

Kentucky was once a 7.5 point favorite over the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, but that line now set at 6.5 points for the 7:30 PM game on September 3rd at Commonwealth Stadium.

Is this more about faith in the Golden Eagles or waning faith in the Wildcats? Kentucky has dealt with a few injuries, a huge loss on the defensive line, and uncertainty at multiple positions.

CBS Sports has Southern Miss ranked at #34 while the 'Cats come in at #74.

Is this the most vital opening game of the Mark Stoops era? It very well may be as it will be hard to see Kentucky getting to six wins and a bowl game with an opening day loss to a Conference USA team even though that team is on the verge of Top 25 status. The Wildcats can ill afford a loss heading into their first conference game at the Swamp the following week.
