It looks like we won't be seeing a Kentucky Wildcats alumni basketball game this year. However, head coach John Calipari is working to have something else on the diamond instead.

On August 28th, Calipari is partnering with the Lexington Legends and the John Calipari Basketball Fantasy Experience to create the Coach Cal Celebrity Softball Classic. The game will take place at 6 p.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and a celebrity home run derby will start at 5:30 p.m.

Among the former Cats expected to attend include Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns76ers forward/center Nerlens Noel, Pacers forward Alex Poythress, 1978 national champion Kyle Macy, 1999 NFL Draft No. 1 overall pick and UK Athletics Hall of Famer Tim Couch, new Kentucky baseball coach Nick Mingione, UK softball assistant coach Molly Johnson, NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter, actors Josh Hopkins and Steve Zahn, ESPN reporter Kaylee Hartung and more.

Tickets for this year's event are available now, and you can get more information at CoachCalSoftballClassic.com.
