It's almost football season, everybody. The Kentucky Wildcats take the field on Thursday. But until then, we are stuck with limited sports entertainment for a few more days.
But until then, we have a little basketball news. If you consider mock drafts news. Three Wildcats are listed in the first round of the 2017 NBA mock draft. Bam Adebayo is the highest ranked 'Cat at number nine, De'Aaron Fox comes in at twleve, and Malik Monk is criminally low at 22. Monk will rocket up the rankings after the season, bank on it.
Former Kentucky recruit Markelle Fultz has overtaken Harry Giles and Dennis Smith for the number one overall pick, which comes as bit of a shock.

Quickies
Three UK football transfers experience trip of a lifetime before suiting up for Cats - At the start of his college football career, none of Kentucky’s three transfers expected to be playing for the Cats. Nor did they expect to be doing service work in Ethiopia. But they hope those experiences will make them important team leaders.
Za’Darius shines during Ravens summer camp - A $1 wager with linebacker Za'Darius Smith over an infraction at Ravens practice seems to be coach John Harbaugh's dig at the NFL over a recent fine.
Stevie Johnson suffers knee injury at Chargers camp- This is news that is always hard to hear, especially when it's about guys you used to root for. I hope it isn't as serious as they think it is.
Jacob Tamme gets into fight with Rookie at Falcons camp- I never thought of Tamme as the fighting type, but tempers flare at NFL training camps. We've all seen Hard Knocks.
Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta to be imploded next year - The demolition of the dome will be completed before college football's national championship game comes to the new Falcons stadium in January 2018.
Ferguson begins pro career Down Under - Terrance Ferguson is in uncharted waters as he begins his pro career in Australia. Ferguson attended Advanced Preparatory Institute of Dallas, which had the same principal and basketball coach as the now-defunct Prime Prep, where Emmanuel Mudiay starred in 2013-14 before he opted to play in China amid reported eligibility concerns.
Vanderbilt's Bryce Drew has SEC's second-best pitch to players - This Nashville columnist thinks Vanderbilt has the second-best recruiting pitch in the SEC. And the Cleveland Browns has the second best head coach in the NFL.
Cleveland Indians acquire star reliever Andrew Miller from Yankees -In a big move to bolster their bullpen, the Indians picked up All-Star reliever Andrew Miller from the Yankees in exchange for four prospects. Miller, 31, appeared in 44 games for the Yankees this season, posting a 6-1 record with a 1.39 ERA and nine saves.
Are the ‘little guys’ about to be driven out of big-time college sports? - This summer, the Big Ten and Conference USA — which includes Western Kentucky and Marshall — each negotiated new TV contracts. Big Ten schools will split some $440 million a year from their new deal; C-USA schools will split a reported $2.8 million. Long term, can NCAA Division I sports as we’ve known it survive such expanding income inequality?
Draymond Green sends out racy picture- And, of course, he claims he was hacked, then apologizes. He continues to be the biggest, most embarrassing knucklehead in the NBA. I used to really like Kevin Durant, but now that he plays with Green, I have to dislike him. I dislike any player that plays with Draymond Green.
Guy Fieri claims he lured Kevin Durant to the Warriors- Mmmmmkay.
Jason Bourne Debuts at the Top of the Box Office - Matt Damon's latest entry in the Bourne series towered above the competition. I've only seen one Bourne movie, the first one, and it was OK. I don't get the hype, I guess.
Last Chance U offers compelling, brutal look into college football- Looking for a football fix? Netflix offers the cure in an excellent docu-series called Last Chance U. It's the story of the highly successful JUCO school East Mississippi Community College and how their players struggle on the field, off the field, and strive to make it to the Division I level. The head coach, Buddy Stephens., sure seems like a nice guy until the team loses and begins to play poorly. Then he devolves into the sterotypical jerk head football coach.
