Terrence Jones has had a peculiar stint with the Houston Rockets.
Just two years ago, he was seen as a future valuable piece in the Houston frontcourt. This offseason, the Rockets did not extend a qualifying offer to Jones, opting instead to extend one to fellow Houston big man Donatas Motiejuna.
While the NBA Free Agency rumor mill has been swirling for nearly every possible player, the rumor mill has been unusually slow regarding Jones.
One rumor that has popped up has been the Terrence Jones-New Orleans Pelicans rumor. There isn't a ton of steam behind this rumor, but the possibility exists.
Joseph Billiot from. The Bird Writes says that Jones fits perfectly with the Pelicans. He brings out a couple different points in regard to why Jones would fit well with the Pelicans
First, he notes that clients of Anthony Davis' agent, Thad Foucher, have a track record of landing spots with the Pelicans. Terrence Jones' agent? Thad Foucher.
Secondly, he points out that Davis and Jones played together at Kentucky during the 2011-2012 season, creating "one of the most feared frontcourts in recent memory."
He also adds that Jones has versatility to play multiple positions and would be an upgrade over some of the current talent currently on New Orleans' roster. Due to his struggles and injury issues the last two seasons, the Pelicans could likely sign Jones to a cap-friendly deal.
The Rockets had multiple problems this past season, and organizational changes are being made. Hopefully, Jones can move into another organization and bring back the productive career that he was embarking on two years ago.
While nothing is solid regarding this rumor, it's fun to entertain the idea of a Davis-Jones reunion in the NBA.
