New 2017 Basketball Recruiting Rankings by Scout

Some UK targets got nice bumps, but two big names had a significant fall.

Typically when one major recruiting service updates their rankings, others quickly follow suit.

Not long after ESPN updated their college basketball 2017 recruiting rankings, Scout.com did the same with their new 2017 rankings. As you can imagine, a lot of players the Kentucky Wildcats are targeting got some nice bumps up the rankings.

But when it comes to DeAndre Ayton (1), Mohamed Bamba (2) and Wendell Carter Jr. (3), you can't bump them up much since they're the top three prospects in just about every major recruiting service now. Those three are at or near the top of John Calipari's big board for what hopes to be another monster class for the Wildcats in 2017.

Other UK targets in the new rankings included five-star forward Kevin Knox at No. 6, five-star guard Hamidou Diallo at No. 10, five-star forward Jarred Vanderbilt at No. 13, five-star big man P.J. Washington at No. 14, five-star wing Kris Wilkes at No. 16, five-star point guard Trae Young at No. 26, four-star guard John Petty at No. 29, and four-star center Nick Richards at No. 32.

That's a notable drop for Richards and Petty as they're two of the likeliest commitments for UK in this class. ESPN has both of them ranked in the top 17, so there appears to be some real debate as to how good those two are right now.

If Coach Cal wants them though, I wouldn't worry too much about rankings.
