Kentucky Wildcats Quickies: Dorian Hairston Edition

UK baseball wins thriller and may have saved season. Softball sweeps MSU. Randall Cobb graduates. Nyquist ready for more after Kentucky Derby victory. More.

UK Athletics

It's funny how baseball, a sport with seemingly an endless number of games just to get through a regular season, can all come down to one swing of a bat.

Perhaps that's the case with Kentucky baseball. After falling to EKU last week, the Cats' latest loss to a team with an RPI worse than 200, UK was falling off the NCAA Tournament bubble while Gary Henderson's warm seat was getting a lot warmer.

But on Sunday, senior Dorian Hairston’s walk-off home run in extra innings Sunday gave the Wildcats a series-clinching win over No. 7 South Carolina. UK  entered the three-game stint with the Gamecocks losers of three straight league series and 10 of 15 after losing the opener Friday, but claimed the next two over USC to win the series and now are at least back on the tournament bubble.
