Former Kentucky Wildcat, first round pick, and NBA Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns will once again be playing basketball in Kentucky.
On October 15 at 7 p.m. ET, Towns' Minnesota Timberwolves will face off against the Miami Heat at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. This marks the third year that an NBA exhibition game will be played in Louisville. Last year, the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat faced off. The year prior. the Heat faced off against the New Orleans Pelicans, led by former Kentucky Wildcat Anthony Davis.
The Timberwolves are a young, up-and-coming team with the emergence of Towns and several other young players such as Andrew Wiggins, Zach Lavine, and former Louisville Cardinal big man Gorgui Dieng. The Timberwolves also hired head coach Tom Thibodeau, who boasts an impressive 64.7 percent career winning percentage.
Oh, and let's not forget there is a pretty good chance that the Timberwolves could snatch up Jamal Murray with the fifth pick in the NBA Draft if he is available. The BBN will likely fill the Yum! Center in heavy amounts if a Timberwolves team with Towns and Murray were playing.
With continued support in exhibition games such as this--the Pelicans-Heat game was reportedly sold out--it makes for a much more convincing argument for the NBA to place a team in the Bluegrass State.
Tickets will be available starting June 3 at 10 a.m., with starting prices at $18. Tickets can be purchased through the arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at ticketmaster, com, or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
