Marcus Lee announcing through Kentucky?

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

As the deadline to pull out of the 2016 NBA Draft nears, we could hear an announcement from Marcus Lee at any moment on whether he's returning to UK or remaining in the draft.

A glimmer of hope for Lee's return  came late Tuesday night when ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported that the junior big man was possibly making an announcement through UK.

If that's the case, that would bode well for UK on a number of fronts.

1. It means Lee and UK are on better terms now after he originally announced his intentions during an interview with Goodman, who isn't exactly someone UK is very high on.

2. An official announcement through UK, possibly through a press release, is more likely to announce Lee returning than it is that he'll stay pro. If he's going to announce he's staying in the draft, it would more likely be through a press conference through UK.

3. More than anything, Lee announcing through UK means he and Calipari are probably on good terms, which is ultimately what everyone wants to see, regardless of whether Lee returns or stays. You never want to see a player leave on bad terms with his coach, so it looks like this won't happen after Lee made a bad decision to do that interview with Goodman, who it's no secret isn't on good terms with John Calipari.
