It's finally over.
Five-star center Marques Bolden finally ended his recruitment on Thursday afternoon at a ceremony at Desoto High School, where he made a life-altering decision in the midst of his peers, close friends and many members of his family. A life-long journey to this point culminated with Bolden announcing he was committing to Duke.
Bolden is not only regarded as the best high school center, but one of the best overall prospects in the 2016 class. He's ranked 11th overall by Rivals.com, 16th by ESPN, 8th by Scout.com and 15th by 247 Sports Composite.
That should wrap up the 2016 recruiting cycle for both Kentucky and Duke, who finish with the top two classes in every major ranking, though the Blue Devils may now take over the No. 1 ranking as Bolden was possibly the deciding factor for both schools in terms of the top spot.
As for Kentucky, they'll be perfectly fine without Bolden as five-star big men Bam Adebayo, Sacha Killeya-Jones and Wenyen Gabriel come to UK along with Tai Wynyard, Isaac Humphries and possibly Marcus Lee.
In other words, this should be another special season for Kentucky Basketball. It just won't include Bolden.
