Trae Young and Hamidou Diallo picking Kentucky Basketball?

Several recruiting experts think this will happen.

While Marques Bolden and finishing up the 2016 class are the big focus around Kentucky Basketball for now, the 2017 class will soon be getting all of the focus as UK is sitting well with several five-star prospects.

As of now, the likeliest backcourt combination UK will land in next year's class features five-star shooting guard Hamidou Diallo and five-star point guard Trae Young. As of now, Young is the top point guard that UK is well positioned with, so much so that many think he'll be the first 2017 pledge for the Wildcats.

As for Diallo, UK just offered him back in April, but he's been strongly considering the Cats for awhile now. Ever since UK offered, Diallo has been viewed as a UK lean, and that hasn't changed as we enter the summer recruiting evaluation periods.

Rivals.com basketball recruiting expert Eric Bossi is making some way-too-early predictions, which includes Diallo and Young picking the Cats.

Here's what Bossi wrote on Diallo:

Bossi’s take: There’s just a little bit different level of athletic juice that Diallo can bring to the game. He’s learning how to use his athleticism to supplement his game rather than relying on it as he works to improve his ball handling and shooting. Because his outside shooting remains a work in progress, he’s still susceptible to inconsistency, but he’s certainly backing up his top-10 status in 2017.

Way too early prediction: Kentucky.

And here's what Bossi wrote on Young:

Bossi’s take: At times this spring, Young has tried to shoot his way through pressure and been prone to some silly decisions. In Hampton, he really started to move the ball and took smarter shots. Young still has to limit turnovers, but he was easily one of the session’s premier players averaging 25.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game

Way too early prediction: Kentucky.

That's the good news. The bad news is Bossi is projecting several other UK targets to end up elsewhere. He predicts Kansas will land DeAndre Ayton, Duke will get both Wendell Carter and Kevin Knox, and Texas will land P.J. Washington.

As of now, I do not think UK misses out on all of those guys, but it's too early to tell who exactly the Cats will land next year with so many big-time prospects considering UK.

And Bossi isn't the only expert who is currently predicting UK to land both Young and Diallo. If you look at their 247 Sports Crystal Ball pages, multiple recruiting experts and analysts are pegging both Young and Diallo to UK.
