As the month of April rolls on the, there are still some quality players still having yet to sign with a college.
Perhaps none of them are as important as five-star center Marques Bolden, who's set to pick between Duke and Kentucky sometime on or before April 17, Bolden's birthday. At this moment, it looks like Bolden will pick the Blue Devils if a decision is reached before then, and it continues to look more and more that way as a decision inches closer.
247Sports national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer just changed his Crystal Ball prediction to Duke on Wednesday as Duke is now leading UK in voting by a 71-29 margin.
The good news is these are merely predictions and no one appears to know for sure what Bolden will do, and he hinted as much during an interview with Meyer.
"When I have it figured out, I will for sure announce it," said Bolden. "I really am still trying to figure it out."
Kentucky head coach John Calipari recently visited Bolden and his family.
"The visit with Coach Calipari went great," said Bolden. "We got a lot out of that meeting. We really talked a lot. My parents and I really got a lot out of it."
Bolden continued with what attracted him to Kentucky:
"Really just the versatility they have and the way they use their bigs. They don't really have stationary fives or stationary fours. Everybody plays multiple positions."
Elsewhere, ESPN just did a breakdown of the top uncommitted prospects in the nation. ESPN basketball analyst Jeff Borzello went with Duke as his pick, but the Scouts Inc. crew couldn't come to a consensus on who would land Bolden.
No. 20 Marques Bolden, 6-10, C
Jeff Borzello prediction: Duke
ESPN Scouts' prediction: Duke, Kentucky (tie)
Others in the mix: TCU
Nothing like a Duke vs. Kentucky recruiting battle to get the spring signing period juices flowing. TCU is also in the mix, but the Horned Frogs just had a coaching change and seem to be a distant third behind the two blue blood programs. Bolden is being viewed as the missing piece in both teams' quest to finish as the No. 1 recruiting class --- and the No. 1 team in next year's preseason polls. Duke has the buzz right now.
As of now, Duke associate head coach Jeff Capel and other assistants will visit Bolden and his family shortly after the Nike Hoop Summit this weekend. A three-day recruiting dead period will take place on Monday as Bolden then travels to play in the Jordan Brand Classic, which takes place on April 15 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
That's going to make it hard for John Calipari and his staff to meet with the big man one final time before he decides on April 17. With Duke already looking like they're leading, you'd hate to think they'll get the last visit with Bolden.
