Welcome, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, to the Tuesday quickies. Today, like many days around this time every year, we are Waiting For [insert recruit name here]. Today’s bracket filler happens to be five star center/forward Marques Bolden. Acording to recruiting sources around the Internet, Bolden’s decision could come at any time between the Kentucky Wildcats and Duke Blue Devils. Lately, these sorts of decisions have been going Duke’s way, so maybe the Wildcats are due for a break.
Oh, and just in case you have forgotten, the Bat Cats will travel to the River City tonight to face the Louisville Cardinals. In the matchup last week in Lexington, the Cardinals narrowly defeated the ‘Cats. Can UK return the favor? I’ll get to see in person, as I have tickets to attend the game.

Hope! Briscoe would make the UK back court terrific.
Your Quickies:
Kentucky football
-
Defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh gets a raise. Definitely deserved.
-
Luxury "tailgating" is to be available for Kentucky fans next year. Of course, you could buy a brand new Lexus for less than the cost of a single season ticket. Luxury, indeed, but it doesn’t sound much like tailgating to me.
-
Jon Hale evaluates this weekend’s Blue/White scrimmage. I’m concerned about the defensive line more than anything else. Everything else looks to be at least somewhat improved.
-
Greg Orstendorf has three observations about Kentucky football after the spring game. Consider this:
- The defense still has question marks: King’s breakout performance was a good sign for the offense, but it came at the expense of the first-team defense. The defensive line was consistently beaten up front by the second-team offensive line, and they had no answer for the read-option attack.
This worries me as well, as I mentioned already.
-
NCAA delays "technology" legislation approving in-game video in the press box and locker room. Coaches breathe a sigh of relief.

You go, Coach.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein thinks the SEC will have a hard time pushing Kentucky next year. I think he’s probably right, although I think people should take note of what Rick Barnes is doing in Knoxville, and don’t go to sleep on an improving Florida team.
-
Coach Cal is ‘crutin’, and five-star forward Kevin Knox has invited him into his home.
Other Kentucky sports
-
As I mentioned in the introduction, the Wildcats and Cardinals will be slugging it out tonight at Jim Patterson stadium.
-
Kelsey Nunley is the SEC Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week.

College basketball

In case you missed it (and I did), Tubby Smith is the new coach of the Memphis Tigers. So will Memphis fans embrace a former UK coach after losing Calipari to the Wildcats? No idea, but I think it’s an excellent fit.
Larry Vaught has additional thoughts, and some good questions, about the move.
-
Former Wildcat Allen Edwards is now the coach at Wyoming. He was elevated to the position after former head coach Larry Shyatt stepped down in march.
Other sports news
-
The Third Circuit Court of Appeals approves the NFL concussion settlement. Michael McCann of Sports Illustrated explains what it means.
-
Loyola University Chicago has ten women’s team members quit the team en masse. Sheryl Swopes is the coach, and the program is under investigation by the university.

New treatment can cure 98% of prostate cancer cases, according to new research. I have been told that there are two types of men — those who have prostate cancer, and those who have not lived long enough.
All I can say is, "Faster, please."
