UK Athletics

The University of Kentucky softball swept conference foe LSU this past weekend to increase their record to an outstanding 33-8 overall and 11-4 in conference play. They sit in third place behind Auburn and are only a few games back of Florida for the SEC lead.

As a result, the Hittin’ Kittens were rewarded with a higher ranking in this week’s polls.

The ESPN/USA Softball panel moved Kentucky up three spots from No.15 to No.12 this week. Four SEC schools (Florida at No.1, Auburn at No. 2, Alabama at No. 4 and Georgia at No. 10) are ranked in the top 10.

The USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll saw the Wildcats move up two spots from No.16 to No.14. Florida held the top spot in the poll. Auburn came in at No. 3 and Alabama is at the four spot. Georgia rounded out the SEC schools in the top ten for the week at No.10.

Kentucky takes the field again Wednesday night at 6:00 P.M. against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.
