College basketball free agency Transfer season is in full swing with players all around the country looking for new programs to continue their basketball careers.
As you can imagine, some of them will be at least somewhat interested in the Kentucky Wildcats, even if the interest is not mutual. A good case in point, at least for now, is probably Ohio State big man Daniel Giddens, who reportedly is interested in UK:
Ohio State transfer Daniel Giddens is considering Kentucky, Florida, FSU, Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi State, source told @CBSSports.— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) March 30, 2016
Ohio State transfer Daniel Giddens has heard from around 20 schools since receiving his release -- will cut his list down next week.— Jeff Borzello (@jeffborzello) March 30, 2016
It's safe to assume to the former Buckeye is at least somewhat interested in becoming a Wildcat, though I doubt UK wants him right now with Marques Bolden, Jarrett Allen and possibly better grad transfers becoming available. If the 6-10, 228-pound Giddens is willing to wait for UK to potentially miss on those guys and enough guys leave for the draft or transfer, then 'maybe' John Calipari will give Giddens a call.
Giddens, a freshman center, averaged 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game during his first season with the Buckeyes. The Mableton (GA) native started in seven of 33 games for Ohio State this season past season and was a highly regarded recruit coming out of high school, receiving offers from Arizona, Kansas, Florida and other programs.
