Wildcat Quickies: Kentucky Baseball Edition

New, 133 comments

Baseball wins home opener. Basketball Cats getting more respect. Fox poised to be next great UK point guard. Wall calls Towns his ROY. Derek found himself a wascally wabbit. UK Hoops opens SEC Tourney. More.

With the men and women's hoops teams getting all of the attention, the baseball Cats have quietly made it through their first seven games with a 4-3 mark.

Their latest win came Wednesday in the home opener at the Cliff, where Gunnar McNeill and Luke Becker each delivered two-out RBI in the eighth inning to lift UK from behind for a 3-2 win over Austin Peay. The win marks the 17th consecutive home-opening win for Kentucky and the eighth straight for head coach Gary Henderson.

UK will return to action on Friday as Buffalo comes to town for a three-game series, with first pitch at 4 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium. Hopefully now that the Cats are back playing at home they can begin finding their rhythm and make a run towards the NCAA Tournament.
