While the 2015-16 college basketball season is still going on, one player is close to making a decision that may have a big impact next year.
Five-star center Marques Bolden is close to making his college choice with the two teams he's deciding between being the likely No. 1 and 2 teams next season. Bolden has told the Dallas Morning News that he plans to announce a college commitment before his birthday, which is on April 17.
His final three schools are Duke, Kentucky, and TCU, though most view the Blue Devils and Wildcats as the teams to beat for him.
Duke is bringing in a monster 2016 signing class that includes No. 1 overall prospect Harry Giles III. Giles knows that getting Bolden would be huge for the Blue Devils as they're battling Kentucky for the No. 1 recruiting class, not to mention the top spot in next season's college rankings.
As you can imagine, both UK and Duke recruits are pushing Bolden to join their schools, and Giles is doing just that in his latest blog post for USA Today High School Sports.
"Next year I think we’re gonna have a great team with the guys that will be there and the class that we’ve got coming in. I’ve definitely been hitting my man Marques (Bolden) telling him to come on to Duke with us. I need that! I feel pretty good about getting him. He’s a smart guy and I hope he’ll make that smart decision to come with us."
One other note: Anytime a college prospect sets a decision date or deadline, that's when you really start to hear where it looks like he's going. Hopefully that's the case with Bolden as one of the biggest Duke experts there is just pegged him to Kentucky:
I'm not too big on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball, but Chad pegging a Duke prospect to go elsewhere is very telling... pic.twitter.com/mqB7LuQwi1— Jason Marcum (@marcum89) March 23, 2016
