The Mustangs won the only meeting between the two teams in late January.

2nd Region

Trigg County vs. Caldwell County

The Trigg County Wildcats (20-7) defeated the Caldwell County Tigers (11-16) by a wide margin on two occasions during the regular season. The Wildcats edged Lyon County in overtime to win 5th District. Caldwell County is smarting from a blowout loss in the 7th District Finals.

Christian County vs. Henderson County

The Christian County Colonels (26-2) are the top rated team in the 2nd Region and broke archrival Hopkinsville strangle hold in the 8th District.

Henderson County has a losing record, 12-16, and look to gain a measure of payback for a 73-51 loss last month. The Colonels lost to Webster County last week in the 6th District Finals.

3rd Region

Owensboro Catholic vs. Ohio County

The Ohio County Eagles bring a middling 12-16 record and a close loss to Muhlenberg County in the 10th District Finals into their first round matchup with Owensboro Catholic (19-9). The Aces won the 9th District and edged the Eagles in two regular season meetings.

Butler County vs. Breckinridge County

The Butler County Bears (12-14) ended a multi-game losing skid by winning the 12th District. The Bears lost to their first round region opponent, Breckinridge County (20-8), to open the season. The Fighting Tigers dropped a heartbreaker to Meade County in triple overtime in the 11th District Finals.

4th Region

Bowling Green vs. Glasgow

The Bowling Green Purples (27-2) are the defending state runner-up and were lucky to escape crosstown rival Warren Central to win the 14th District.

Glasgow brings a losing record (11-18) and lost the 15th District Finals to Barren County by 39 points.

This will be the first matchup between the Scotties and the Purples this season.

Russellville vs. Russell County

The Russellville Panthers (18-7) missed out on the 13th District championship by losing to Franklin-Simpson by five points.

Meanwhile, the Russell County Lakers (19-8) breezed their way through to win the 16th District.

5th Region

Taylor County vs. Nelson County

The Taylor County Cardinals (21-8) annihilated the competition in the 20th District.

North Hardin vs. Green County

The North Hardin Trojans (25-7) swept the 17th District in relatively easy fashion.

The Green County Dragons (21-9) came up short against Caverna in the 18th District title game.

Tonight’s game will be the first between the two schools all season.

8th Region

Collins vs. Simon Kenton

The Collins Titans (14-17) begin defense of their regional title tonight. They lost to neighboring Anderson County in the 30th District Championship.

The Simon Kenton Pioneers have a 32nd District title to ease the pain of 12-16 regular season.

The Titans downed Simon Kenton earlier this season 60-41.

South Oldham vs. Owen County

The South Oldham Dragons (25-5) lost to Owen County (29-3) in a 78-75 thriller on February 13th.

Since then the Rebels steamrolled their competition in the 31st District and South Oldham lost by double digits to rival Oldham County in the 29th District.

9th Region

St. Henry vs. Conner

The St. Henry Crusaders (14-16) march into the region tournament nursing the memory of a bitter defeat to Dixie Heights in the 34th District Finals.

Conner (17-10) upset favored Cooper to win the 33rd District last week. The Cougars look to replicate a close win over St. Henry from December.

Covington Catholic vs. Newport

Covington Catholic (26-6) had an abnormally easy time winning the usually loaded 35th District. The Colonels will take on the Newport Wildcats (17-14) to open their pursuit of a third straight regional title. Cov. Cath beat the Wildcats rather handily earlier in the season, 63-32.

10th Region

Campbell County vs. Mason County

The Campbell County Camels (19-12), champion of the 37th District, are looking to win a third straight region title. Standing in their way are region kingpin and 39th District runner-up,  Mason County The Royals (20-10) lost to the Camels by 16 points during the regular season and will have to spring the upset to reverse their recent run of rotten luck in postseason play.

The Greyhounds notched their second straight 40th District title in a row by defeating Montgomery County in the finals.

Harrison County lost to Pendleton County in the duel for the 38th District.

11th Region

Lafayette vs. Franklin County

The tradition-rich Lafayette Generals (19-10) came ever so close to upsetting Dunbar in the 43rd District. They can number the pain of that loss by earning a trip to Rupp Arena. To do so, the Generals need to beat the Franklin County Flyers (15-13), the champions of the 41st District.

Scott County vs. Madison Central

The Scott County Cardinals (27-5) have been a surprise so far this season in the 11th but have struggled as of late against quality competition, including a loss to Henry Clay in the the 42nd District.

The Madison Central Indians (20-11) earned a district title by beating Madison Southern by a single point in the 44th District.

12th Region

Lincoln County vs. Southwestern

The Lincoln County Patriots comes into their first round game with a 20-11 record and the 45th District under their belt. Their opponents, the Southwestern Warriors (23-6), were shocked by Wayne County in the 48th District.

Lincoln County lost the sole regular season meeting between the teams 67-59 last month.

Mercer County vs. Rockcastle County

The Mercer County Titans are sitting on the best record in the state at 30-1. Two of those wins clinched them a 46th District title. Another was a 85-51 victory over Rockcastle County in December.

The Rockets (19-12) are out for revenge and another chance at a championship since they missed out on a trophy in district play after losing to Casey County.

13th Region

Laurel County vs. Knox Central

The Laurel County Jaguars region best 24-5 record is marred by their runner-up finish in the 49th District. To cement their claim as the region’s best team, the Jaguars have to make it to Rupp, and to do so they have to find a way to beat the Knox Central Panthers (16-10) for a second time this season.

South Laurel vs. Bell County

The South Laurel Cardinals (24-6) won the 50th District and face the Bell County Bobcats (12-16) in the first round of the regional tourney.

14th Region

Perry County Central vs. Estill County

The Perry County Commodores (23-4) are the 54th District Champions and face the Estill County Engineers (11-19) in the opening round of the region.

Jackson City vs. June Buchanan

The Jackson City Tigers (14-15) look to avenge a 55-31 loss they suffered against the June Buchanan Crusaders (19-9) earlier this winter.

15th Region

East Ridge vs. Allen Central

The East Ridge Warriors (21-11) open region play against an Allen Central Rebels (17-15) that defeated them earlier this year.

Johnson Central vs. Belfry

The Golden Eagles (18-12) continued their dominance of the 57th District this season and look to extend their reign over the region against the Belfry Pirates (12-17). JCHS won the sole contest between the two schools.

The Lions (19-7) are looking to make their fifth Sweet 16 appearance in school history this season and already have a 62nd District Championship to their name.
