Highlights, Postgame Notes, Season Stats After UK Smacks Florida

UK's bigs bounced back from a dud Saturday to accounting for 32 points, 29 boards and five blocks vs Florida.

Kentucky's road woes looked like a thing of the past Tuesday night as the Cats were whacking the Gators en route to an 88-79 win.

UK led by as many as 17 late in the game before finishing off the regular-season season sweep of Florida for just the third time since 2005. Jamal Murray led the way with 21 points, marking the 15th time he's topped 20 points this season, a UK freshman record.

Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is now 22-8 on the season. The Wildcats are 12-5 in Southeastern Conference action.

  • Florida is 18-12, 8-9 SEC.

  • Kentucky leads the all-time series 99-37.

    • Kentucky has a five-game winning streak in the series. UK won home and away against Florida for the second year in a row.

  • Next up for the Wildcats: UK welcomes LSU to Rupp Arena on Saturday at 2 p.m. EST in the SEC regular-season finale, televised by CBS.

In the First Half

  • Kentucky started with the lineup of Tyler Ulis, Isaiah Briscoe, Jamal Murray, Alex Poythress and Skal Labissiere for the first time since Dec. 12 vs. Arizona State, and fourth time this year.

  • Kentucky led by as much as 14 (32-18) at the 6:41 mark.

  • Florida closed the half on a 14-4 run, to cut the halftime deficit to four points, 36-32.

  • Kentucky did not attempt a free throw in the first half. Florida was 6 of 16 from the stripe.

  • Kentucky committed 12 fouls in the first half, Florida committed three.

  • Tyler Ulis' made 3-pointer at the 9:32 mark was Kentucky's first 3-pointer by someone other than Murray since Derek Willis in the Texas A&M game.

In the Second Half

  • UK opened up its largest lead, 17 (72-55) at the 4:52 mark.

  • From there, Florida went on a 9-1 run over the next 1:50 to cut the UK lead to nine (73-64).

  • The two teams tied 15-15 over the final 2:43.

  • Kentucky did not attempt a field goal in the final 3:40 of the game.

Team Notes

  • Eight Wildcats scored on Tuesday. Just four scored at Vanderbilt on Saturday.

    • Five Wildcats scored in double figures for the first time since Jan. 27 vs. Missouri.

  • Kentucky's 88 points were its second-best output this season (89 at South Carolina).

  • Kentucky shot a season-high 70 percent from 3-point range.

    • UK's two best 3-point shooting percentages in a game this year have been against Florida. UK shot 60 percent (12 of 20) vs. Florida on Feb. 6, 2016.

    • UK shot 10 3s, tying the second fewest in a game this year.

  • Kentucky had 19 assists tying the season-high which came against Florida on Feb. 6.

  • Kentucky committed 27 fouls, the second most this season (33 at Kansas - Jan. 30).

    • Florida attempted 37 free throws, the second most by a UK opponent this year (Kansas shot 47).

    • Florida shot 43 percent (16 of 37) from the line. It was the lowest percentage by a UK opponent this year.

  • John Calipari has a 657-186 (.779) all-time record, including a 212-46 (.822) mark at Kentucky.

Player Notes

  • Freshman Jamal Murray had 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a block.

    • It was his 15th game this season with at least 20 points, his ninth game in a row. It's the longest streak since Jodie Meeks had nine consecutive 20-point games in 2008-09.

      • He passed Brandon Knight for the UK freshman record for 20-point games.

    • With four made 3-pointers today, he has 95 this season, extending his UK freshman record.

    • He has made three or more 3-pointers in 17 games, passing Knight for the most in a single season by a UK player during the Calipari era.

    • It is his 28th consecutive double-figure scoring game. The last time a UK player had a 28-game double-figure stretch was in 2010-11 (Knight).

    • He has made at least one 3-point shot in every game this season, the first player in program history to make a triple in each of his first 30 collegiate games.

    • It's also a school record for most consecutive games with a 3 to begin a season, regardless of year in school.

    • It is the second-longest streak of games with a made 3-pointer in school history, trailing only Tony Delk, who had 32 straight games with a triple.

      • Murray and Delk are the only UK players to make a 3 in 30 games in a row.

    • He has scored at least eight points in all 30 games this season, extending his school-record for most consecutive games with 8+ points at the start of a career.

    • He is averaging 19.9 points per game this year, which at present is the third best average by a UK first-year player ever.

  • Sophomore Tyler Ulis had 19 points, 11 assists and four rebounds.

    • It was his team-leading seventh double-double of the season. Six of them have been of the points-assists variety

    • It was the fifth time this season he has recorded at least 10 assists in a game, which is the UK single-season record.

    • He passed 200 assists for the year, and now has 207 this season. He is the third player in school history with 200 or more assists in a season in school history.

  • Senior Alex Poythress scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

    • The double-double was his fourth of the season, sixth of his career and first since the EKU game on Dec. 9, 2015 (FONT)

  • Freshman Skal Labissiere scored 11 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.

    • He reached double-figure scoring for the eighth time this year, and first since scoring 12 vs. Missouri on Jan. 27.

    • He started for the first time since the Ohio State game on Dec. 19, 2015.

  • Freshman Isaiah Briscoe scored 13 points.

    • It was his 16th game in double-figures scoring.

    • A 40 percent free-throw shooter on the season entering the game, he went 5 of 6 from the line. The 83-percent output tied a single-game career high (he was 5 of 6 vs. Missouri).
