Saturday was a special day for Jamal Murray.
With Kentucky desperately needing a win after dropping two straight, the freshman guard erupted for his best game as a collegiate player, scoring 35 points on 13-of-21 shooting and 8-of-10 from three-point range. It was one of the great shooting performances ever by a Wildcat, but what made it really special for Murray was it came in front of family and friends.
His brother, mom, dad and high school teacher were in Rupp Arena to watch Murray dazzle the Gators and help get the Wildcats a much-needed win.
"It’s good to look in the crowd and see them watching," Murray said. "When my family is here I just relax. I’m calm and just play the game I know. They helped me get here so there’s no reason to feel pressure."
