Alex Poythress injured warming up before Kentucky vs Florida

Oh boy...

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats just can't seem to get out of their own way this season, and that's been painfully true on the injury front.

Senior forward Alex Poythress appears to have suffered an injury during pregame warmups today prior to UK's clash with the Florida Gators. Poythress was gimpy during pregame shooting before leaving as the Cats began warming up and stretching.

UK has since announced that junior forward Marcus Lee will be starting today in Poythress' place the 5 spot. Whether Poythress plays today or not has yet to be determined.

This would be the second time this season that a Wildcat suffered an injury during pregame warmups. Freshman guard Isaiah Briscoe suffered a rolled ankle back in December prior to the Cats' big win over the Louisville Cardinals.

Hopefully, today's end result is the same, but this would be a huge loss nonetheless if Alex misses the game and possibly significant time.

UPDATE

A UK spokesman has now announced that Poythress is out today. The good news is it's not his surgically-repaired knee that was injured.

We'll keep you posted as more details become available.
