Could we actually see Derek Willis back on the court for the Kentucky Wildcats this week?
It's looking possible now based on the latest update from John Calipari. During his weekly appearance on the SEC coaches teleconference, Calipari revealed that Willis is back on the practice floor and "getting closer" to a return.
Must Reads
"He went on the practice floor and run up and down (Sunday)," Cal said, "and I didn’t see any black and blue or swelling, so I’d say he’s getting closer."
That's the good news.
The bad news is Cal doesn't think Willis will be good to go Tuesday for UK's clash with the Florida Gators.
"I doubt if he plays tomorrow, but he’s going up and down (the floor)."
If Willis ends up playing Saturday vs the LSU Tigers, it would help him get his feet back under him and hopefully get him back in his groove before the SEC Tournament begins late next week for UK.
