When Kentucky landed the commitment of five-star recruit Jarred Vanderbilt, it seemed likely that Kentucky would be removed from the Kevin Knox conversation. T
he belief was that Knox, a five-star small forward, would feel that Kentucky’s recruiting class is getting a bit too cramped for him to get playing time.
But according to Knox, Vanderbilt’s recruitment has no relation to his decision.
"Not at all," Knox said of Vanderbilt's Kentucky commitment at the John Wall Invitational, via The Cats Pause. "It's like all the other schools. I'm going to take my time, take my visits, talk to the coaches, build a relationship and go from there."
According to Knox, John Calipari has told him that there’s still room for him on the roster.
"Me and Jarred play alike but Coach Cal texted me when Jarred [committed],” Knox said. “He said there's nothing wrong with that. I can still go there and a lot of the players committed there are still texting me and wanting me to go there. It's good to see they still want me even though Jarred committed."
Knox has made visits to unofficial visits to Duke, North Carolina, Florida State and Kentucky (to see Big Blue Madness). He’s set to take official visits to Kentucky, Florida State and North Carolina over the next couple months. He’ll wait until his quest for a high school state championship is over to make his decision.
"I decided I'm going to commit after the season," Knox said. "Get focused on winning a state championship and I'll make that decision at the end of the year."
The predictions for Knox are between Duke and Kentucky, but Duke is the heavy favorite thus far.
