When Kentucky faces North Carolina this weekend, it will be the first time several Wildcats face their home-state school.
Bam Adebayo grew up in Little Washington, North Carolina, while Sacha Killeya-Jones is actually from Chapel Hill, right in the Tar Heels’ own backyard. Both freshman forwards spurned offers from UNC and instead came to UK, and now they’ll face off in Las Vegas.
“It should be an awesome experience,” Killeya-Jones said Thursday. “Obviously, grew up around the program and everything, know about the history. It’s a great school. It’ll be an awesome game, I think. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Kentucky fans will certainly love hearing Bam call them the best fanbase in the world, which is a pretty strong statement for a guy who grew up in the Tar Heel state.
“I would say Kentucky fans are definitely more dedicated and everything, and loyal to their team,” said Adebayo. “I think Carolina fans are great and everything, but Kentucky is just like nothing else in the world.”
