TaxSlayer Bowl eyeing 8 teams from SEC and ACC

A total of 8 teams from the SEC and ACC are under consideration for this bowl.

Kentucky is among a host of teams in the running for the TaxSlayer Bowl.

On Wednesday, the TaxSlayer Bowl announced it’s choosing between four SEC teams and four ACC teams for this year’s matchup. Those teams include the Kentucky Wildcats, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Arkansas Razorbacks, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Virginia Tech Hokies.

There are rumors floating around that UK has already landed a spot in the bowl, though it’s hard to see any final decision being made yet.

Oh, and there’s this:

It is good to see that the Tennessee Volunteers and Georgia Bulldogs are out of the running for this bowl. Those were two teams in the running for this bowl and would probably be ahead of UK in the pecking order had they not lost last week.

Georgia lost at home to Georgia Tech, while Tennessee was upset at Vanderbilt. It looks like those losses may allow UK to leapfrog them in the bowl pecking order and make it to Jacksonville on New Year’s Eve.

If you want to help make it happen, pre-ordering tickets to the TaxSlayer Bowl can help UK get there.
