The playoff rankings release, Chicago forces a Game 7 and more.

NCAA Football: Kentucky at Missouri Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning BBN, these are your Wednesday quickies. The first college football playoff rankings of the year have been released, and the committee threw quite the curveball.

Everyone is of course looking at the top four to see who is projected to make the playoff. The top three are pretty much expected: the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Clemson Tigers, and the Michigan Wolverines. The fourth team, however, is the 7-1 Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies, who suffered their only loss to the No. 1 Tide, took the No. 4 spot over the still undefeated Washington Huskies. This has raised some eyebrows and led some to cry out “SEC bias” (eye roll). Regardless, the decision to put Texas A&M in over Washington is shocking. However, there’s still plenty of football left, and if the Huskies win out there’s no chance they’ll remain a snub.

Despite my eye roll, there’s no denying that the SEC has a strong presence in the rankings. Five teams from the conference made the list. Alabama (1), Texas A&M (4), Auburn (9), Florida (11) and LSU (13).

You can see the full list of rankings here.
