Luke Wright starting as Stephen Johnson dealing with injury

The Kentucky Wildcats have made a surprising move to start Luke Wright vs Austin Peay.

About 30 minutes before kickoff, UK announced that Wright was getting the start in placed of an injured Stephens Johnson, who apparently suffered an injury vs Tennessee last week.

This would be bad news if not for the fact that Kentucky is playing an Austin Peay team that is not capable of beating a Division I program, especially one with the ground game UK has, even without Johnson running the show.

Wright played in two games this past season for the Bearcats as a redshirt freshman, going 1-of-3 for 16 yards and rushing twice for three yards. He walked onto the team in 2014 before redshirting. Back in high school, Wright passed for 1,080 yards and eight TDs and also rushed for 450 yards and six additional scores as a senior at Holy Innocents Episcopal.

We will have more details as to what injury Johnson is dealing with as they become available.
