The Kentucky Wildcats are trying to get to win No. 6 and Vegas believes they can do that. Kentucky is a 46-point favorite over Austin Peay Governors Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium.
Austin Peay has not won a game this season, having a record of 0-10 coming into Saturday. The Governors are coming off of a really lopsided loss to Eastern Kentucky University last weekend, losing 30-67.
The Cats should finally be going bowling, but Kentucky really doesn’t want to overlook the Governors and be shell-shocked. if there was any possibility of the Governors upsetting the Cats in Commonwealth this Weekend, here is how the Cats should avoid that happening. (and yes, I don’t believe Austin Peay even has a shot, just trying to see the other side)
1. Stop Kentel Williams. The Governors do have a very good running back/receiver in Kentel Williams a freshman that is a receiver but gets a lot of carries, last game racking up 176 yards on the ground and one touchdown on 19 carries. Williams also caught two passes for 42 yards. Williams has done a fine job overall this season running the ball as well. Williams has run the ball 76 times for 417 yards, averaging 5.5 yards-per-carry and five touchdowns for the governors. Strangely enough, he has only caught nine passes for 164 yards and no receiving touchdowns.
2. Keep ex-Cat, Lloyd Tubman out of the backfield. The former Wildcat was charged with Rape on UK’s campus in 2014, but the grand jury did not indict him in 2015. However, the University of Kentucky expelled Tubman from school and campus. After Transferring to a Community College, Tubman is now at Austin Peay, and he has 27 tackles and 2.5 sacks for the Governors. Tubman has also stopped the offense seven times for a loss. This Defensive End will keep Cole Mosierbusy all day.
3. Keep the chains in Kentucky’s favor. The Governors are converting over 40 percent of their third downs (44 percent) on the season and over 50 percent (52 percent) on the road. The Cats will need to have big downs on first and second down, maybe getting a couple of sacks and tackles for loss to cause a long 3rd down for the Governors.
The Wildcats should be able to handle the Governors with ease on Saturday as long as they don’t overlook them too much. I know Stoops is going to try and save Badet because he’s coming off of the hip injury and he will probably try and have Stephen Johnson out by halftime to save him for Louisville.
For the Governors fans, (if there is any) I don’t believe they will be saying "letsGoPeay" after this one. The Cats are one win away from going bowling for the first time in six years, and I do believe this is the year.
My Prediction: Kentucky 56 Austin Peay 12
