Wildcat Quickies: UK Hoops Edition

UK men & women off to hot starts, Louisville loses and more.

UK Athletics

One Kentucky team that deserves some love is the men’s basketball team. The Wildcats will presumably be the No. 1 team in the next polls, and rightfully so. They’ve dominated all three of their opponents, including an impressive 21-point win over No. 13 Michigan State.

Add in Duke’s loss to Kansas, and the Wildcats are undoubtedly the No. 1 team in college basketball at this point in time. Their convincing wins are a great sign for the rest of their schedule, as they’ve handled their business and should be in great position to continue doing so throughout the remainder of their schedule.

But they’re not the only hoops Cats making noise. the Women are off to a 3-0 start after a 92-43 demolition of New Hampshire on Thursday. Matthew Mitchell has weathered a massive offseason storm and got UK back in position to have a great season, and maybe even make a deep NCAA Tournament run.
