Kentucky is now 3-0 after an impressive win over Michigan State in the Champions Classic.
UK dominated for nearly all 40 minutes, enough so that Brad Calipari was checking into the game with just under two minutes to play. There was little doubt UK was going to win this one after the Cats took an eight-point lead into halftime and finished off a 69-48 win over a ranked opponent.
We also saw how dangerous Malik Monk can be as a scorer. The freshman shooting guard hit three three-pointers in the span of 161 seconds to spark an 11-2 Kentucky run that gave the Wildcats a lead they would never relinquish.
Monk finished his night with 23 points, hitting 7-of-12 from three and showing he can be one of the best scorners in college basketball. Monk entered the night shooting 36-percent from the field and 25-percent from three, so this was easily his best game of his young UK career.
Monk wasn’t alone though, as Isaiah Briscoe scored 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting to go with five boards. De'Aaron Fox finished with 12 points, five assists and five boards.
UK out-shot MSU 38.3-percent to 32.3 and made 16 of 20 free throws. The Cats also forced 21 turnovers, nine steals and blocked seven shots.
