College Basketball AP Top 25 Poll Released

The new college basketball season is here, and the first AP Top 25 Poll is out.

The first edition of the AP Top 25 Poll is out.

To no surprise, the Kentucky Wildcats and Duke Blue Devils took home to top two spots. Duke led the way with 58 first-place votes, while UK received two first-place votes.

Even though UK came in at No. 2, it was the Villanova Wildcats who had four first-place votes, though Nova came in at No. 4. The Oregon Ducks, who came in at No. 5, also received one first-place vote.

Duke also came in at No. 1 in the first Coaches Top 25 Poll, which had UK coming in at No. 4.

As for the Cats’ big opponent this season, the Kansas Jayhawks (3), North Carolina Tar Heels (6), Michigan State Spartans (12), and Louisville Cardinals (13) are among the team’s UK will face this year, most of which before they even hit Christmas.

It’s safe to say John Calipari will once again have his Cats battled-tested heading into March. Then again, he needs it to make up for a rebuilding SEC, which has no other teams in the top 25.

Here is a look at the entire top 25:
