After four-star recruit Shai Alexander decommitted from the Florida Gators, he became a Kentucky target. It was recently reported that Kentucky was expected to have a coach go watch Alexander today, but now reports are coming in that said coach will be John Calipari.

Alexander, a 6-5 combo guard from Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga (TN), showed his scoring and passing ability in the EYBL circuit, averaging 15.8 points and 4.8 assists for Wings Elite.
According to 247 Sports, Alexander is the No. 1 player from Tennessee, and the No. 43 player in the 2017 class. His choice to decommit from Florida has rocked the crystal ball prediction, as 247 now has him favored to pick Kentucky over Florida, 71% to 29%, despite the fact that Florida is the only school that has offered him a scholarship.
While not a five-star recruit, Alexander would do a great job in filling out the class and adding depth to the roster. Cal visiting him today is a good sign for his chances of committing to the Bluegrass.
