Mohamed Bamba recruiting update

The elite big man out of New York is considering Duke and UK among others.

Mohamed Bamba remains one of the Kentucky Wildcats’ biggest recruiting targets in 2017, but they won’t get a decision from him anytime soon.

As expected, Bamba will wait until the spring to sign his letter of intent, according to Adam Zagoria, who adds that the five-star big man has no other visits planned.

One would think Bamba will eventually take official visits to Kentucky and Duke, the two perceived favorites in his recruitment. Then again, Bamba did just unofficially visit UK for Big Blue Madness, so he won’t need to necessarily visit again for UK to grt his commitment.

Since August, Bamba has unofficially visited Syracuse and Harvard. He has officially visited Michigan and Harvard.

Seeing all those schools along with Duke in the running shows you how important academics are to the 6-10 forward out of New York. As Zagoria alluded to, DraftExpress is already projecting Bamba as a top-two pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He’s a consensus top-four recruit in the Class of 2017 and is as high as No. 2 at Scout.com.
