With the Kentucky Wildcats pulling off big SEC wins over Missouri and Mississippi State, they are creeping up on more and more bowl projection lists.
SB Nation is finally jumping about the UK bowl train, as they pegged the Cats in the TaxSlayer Bowl vs the Miami Hurricanes. This bowl can be an SEC vs ACC matchup, which means teams like Boston College, NC State, Miami, Georgia Tech, Pitt, and North Carolina could be in play, all of whom should be bowl-bound this postseason.
But this bowl can also feature a Big Ten team, meaning teams like Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Iowa, and Northwestern are in play. The TaxSlayer Bowl takes place in Jacksonville on Dec. 31.
Last week, ESPN’s Edward Aschoff and Heavy’s Jonathan Adams had Kentucky in the Birmingham Bowl, with Abrams picking the Cats to face off against the Houston Cougars. That is the same matchup that Campus Insiders has for the Cats this week.
The Birmingham Bowl will be at Legion Field on Dec. 29 on ESPN. It’s meant to be an SEC vs AAC clash, so other teams like South Florida, Temple, Navy, Tulsa, and Cincinnati (The Eddie Gran Bowl) could be in play here.
Heading into Week 9, SEC Country’s Alec Shirkey had Kentucky in the Belk Bowl vs the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Dec. 29 in Charlotte. The SEC vs ACC bowl could also feature teams like Boston College, NC State, Miami, Georgia Tech, Pitt, and North Carolina.
That same bowl is who College Football News has for UK, though NC State is the opponent. That’s the same matchup that CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has, though it comes n the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana.
SEC Country now has the Cats taking on Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl out of the AAC.
If you’re interested in the College Football Playoff, everyone has the Alabama Crimson Tide, Washington Huskies, Michigan Wolverines, and Clemson Tigers making the four-team playoff. There’s still plenty of season left, but it’s clear those four are the playoff favorites right now.
We’ll continue to update this post with bowl projections as they come in.
