Following his visit to Lexington, five-star point guard Quade Green has trimmed his list.
As expected, the Kentucky Wildcats made the final cut, along with the Syracuse Orange and Duke Blue Devils, the two schools UK is challenging in this recruitment.
Most view this recruitment as a twos-rose race between UK and Syracuse with Jim Boeheim’s squad holding the lead, but not because UK doesn’t want Green. The challenge UK faces is convincing Green to be the No. 2 point guard in John Calipari’s 2017 class behind Trae Young, who remains their top target at that position.
But Green had a great visit to UK for Big Blue Madness, which coincidentally came with Young also in attendance. Calipari certainly boosted UK’s chances of landing both players while getting them on campus together.
It remains to be seen if Green will follow through with his plans to announce a decision this fall, but if he does, UK may lose out on this one. Green will visit Syracuse for their Orange Madness event.
