John Petty sets official visit with Kentucky Wildcats

John Petty has set his official visit with the Kentucky Wildcats.

The talented wing out of Alabama will visit Lexington on the weekend of Oct. 28, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. Petty was originally hoping to visit this weekend for Big Blue Madness, but was unable to work through his schedule to do so.

It’s not a big deal though since Petty was in town for BBM last year, so he already has a good idea of what it will be like. Instead, he’ll visit on a weekend when John Calipari and UK can focus more on Petty, whereas if he came this weekend, he’d be part of a logjam of highly-touted recruits taking official and unofficial visits.

UK remains the favorite for Petty, but Alabama is still working hard to keep the Huntsville native in state. His 247 Crystal Ball still has the Cats getting the majority of picks.

247 has Petty ranked as the 28th-best prospect in 2017 and the seventh-best shooting guard. ESPN ranks him 25th overall and the seventh-best shooting guard.

Petty’s ability to play both the 2 and the 3 spots and defend at a high level has made him a prospect UK has coveted for over a year now, and it would be a surprise to see him end up anywhere other than in Lexington for his college career.
