Kentucky Wildcats Morning Quickies: Basketball Posters Edition

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, and welcome to the Tuesday Quickies. Today’s lead story is the release of eight new Kentucky basketball posters, at least one of which has a lot of people excited:

Kentucky football

• Will had a nice post the other day about Mark Stoops’ comments regarding the difficulty that fan negativity creates in turning around the football program. KSR’s Nick Roush reprises it today with another quality effort. Jason also has comments here.

• Jon Toth named offensive lineman of the week for his performance vs. Vanderbilt. Well-earned. The UK offensive line is improving even as the defense does. That’s good to see.

• Stephen Johnson playing with a banged-up wrist, refuses to use it as an excuse for his poor passing on Saturday.

• UK-Mississippi State to kick off at 7:30 on October 22nd.

• Mark Stoops threw his headset after the UK-Vandy game — not in anger, but in celebration.

Kentucky basketball

• More on the eight new UK basketball posters that have been unveiled for this season.

• Malik Monk grew up in an athletic family, but had a lot of pressure to attend Arkansas. Once again, Monk describes how Calipari won him over by telling him things other players didn’t want to hear.

• NBA scout describes Kentucky’s weakness this season as a lack of perimeter shooting. We see this all too often in the Calipari era, it seems.

• Tai Wynyard ready to play this season. I’m ready to watch him play.

• DeAaron Fox and Malik Monk impress at least one pro scout at the UK Pro Day this weekend. I imagine they impressed quite a few of them, but wait until later on in the season.

• Derek Willis wants to build on his breakout year. Hopefully, he can move past the unfortunate incident of the summer.

• Kentucky volleyball takes down the Tennessee Volunteers in straight sets. The Wildcats are moving up the polls, now #23, up from #25 last week.
