The Kentucky Wildcats continue their SEC road trip this weekend when they take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Cats are coming off a disastrous performance in Baton Rouge Tuesday night as they were trounced by the LSU Tigers. A terrible first-half performance led to UK spending the entire second half trying to battle back, and while they did cut the lead to just five points late, LSU proved to be too much on this night as they won 85-67.

As for the Tide, they too are coming off a tough road loss, this one being a 74-66 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels jumped out to a 25-15 lead in the first 11 minutes, but Bama responded with a 25-7 run to take a 40-32 halftime lead. The Tide shot 7-of-13 from 3-point range in the first half, but Ole Miss battled dominated the final 10 minutes.

Alabama senior guard Retin Obasohan led the Crimson Tide with 23 points and is the Tide's leading scorer at 14.2 ppg. Junior forward Michael Kessens chipped in 10 points with seven boards while senior guard Arthur Edwards chipped in 17 points.

The Tide are led by first-year head coach Avery Johnson, who has spent much of his basketball career in the NBA as a championship-winning point guard with the San Antonio Spurs and having his jersey retired.

Then came head-coaching stints with the Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets, where he compiled a 254-186 record and won the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2006 while guiding Dallas to the NBA Finals.

After a brief career as an ESPN analyst, Johnson is now in his first college coaching gig after taking over an Alabama program that finished 19-15 last season. He's already off to a great start this season, having led the Tide to wins over Wichita State and Notre Dame.

And don't let the Tide's 9-4 record fool you. Those losses were to RPI top-15 teams Oregon, Xavier and Dayton in addition to a top-50 Ole Miss team. Combined with UK's road struggles, the Tide are fully capable of pulling off this win if the Cats don't come ready to play.
