Mychal Mulder steps up in loss

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Well, what do you say about Tuesday's game?

Some guys did everything they could to get the Cats back in the game (here's looking at you Tyler and Jamal- the two combined for 44 of the Cats 67 points), but in  the end, they just couldn't get over the hump.

The hero tonight obviously had to be Mychal Mulder.  He got his chance and was one of the only bright  spots, finishing the game with five points and eight rebounds. While neither stands out, he was UK’s leading rebounder in just 14 minutes on the floor while grabbing three offensive boards. Mulder was doing his best to pull the Cats back into the game, and his effort should not be overlooked.

"I feel like I was trying to make the most of an opportunity that I got," Mulder said after the game. "We just didn’t play as well as we could have tonight."

It was great to see Mychal take advantage of the opportunity he had, and show that he does deserve to  play and can provide a spark off the bench. After this performance in so little time, maybe we'll see Mulder get more playing time going forward, especially with Dominique Hawkins out with an ankle injury.

It's still January, and thankfully we have time and plenty of room to grow. And besides, we have Coach Cal, and if anyone can get the Cats where they need to be come March, it's him.
