UPDATE
It looks like Kobi is announcing Saturday at the Hoophall Classic.
***
At one point, it looked like the Kentucky Wildcats were the clear-cut favorites for five-star point guard Kobi Simmons.
Then it looked like the Cats had little-to-no hope of landing the Class of 2016 guard after they landed Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox. Those two were simply higher on John Calipari's list of prospects he wanted for 2016, and that would lead a lot of prospects to lose interest in said school.
Not Simmons. Even after being passed over for other prospects in his class, it's clear he's still not only interested in UK, but may still end up picking them if there ends up being room for him. On Tuesday night, Simmons released a new list of his final three schools in consideration, and UK made it along with the Ohio State Buckeyes and Arizona Wildcats.

Simmons originally had a final three of UK, UNLV and OSU with plans to commit to a school this past fall. However, Simmons changed his plans and extended his recruitment with a decision now likely being around or during the spring signing period.
Here's a recap of how Simmons stacks up according to the ranking services:
24/7: #18 overall, #3 combo guard
ESPN: #18 overall, #4 point guard
Rivals: #19 overall,
Needless to say, Simmons will be a big get for whoever lands him, and UK is still in the running for him.
