Mark Stoops achieved a coup yesterday when Drake Jackson, a 4-star center from Versailles, committed to the Kentucky Wildcats over Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee. Nothing in the world could make me happier than getting highly-ranked offensive linemen given the struggles we have had with "big uglies" this past season.
So to me, Jackson is one of the most beautiful players I’ve seen in a while. Getting linemen like this has been nearly impossible for Kentucky over the years, but Mark Stoops has been making real moves in 2016, getting high 3-star Landon Young from Lexington and now convincing Jackson to remain in Kentucky. Offensive linemen have been a high priority for 2016, and we’ve received commitments from four in 2015 as well, including high 3-star George Asafo-Adjei.
Jackson is a big get for Kentucky, and I suppose we can hold out hope that this will help convince Damien Harris to consider staying home and becoming a Wildcat. It can’t hurt, that’s for sure. But whether it does or it doesn’t, Kentucky desperately needs to upgrade the talent in both the offensive and defensive lines. Jackson is definitely a move in the right direction for the Wildcats.
